Alex Lebron Torrent is a musician, actor and model living and working in Barcelona, Spain. Alex was adopted from Colombia when he was 1 and grew up in a small town in Sweden where he had no Black people around him. Through music and movies with Black characters, Alex developed a sense of belonging and has now dedicated his life to these Black forms of artistic expression that helped shape him and his career.
A mutual friend introduced us when we went to watch Alex perform at ClubHaus in Barcelona. I had just returned form a trip that day and i was very tired but Gabby insisted that i come to the show and I have no regrets. I was blown away by Alex’s style, stage presence, confidence, aura and skill as a performer. That day, he performed a wide range of styles spanning different eras from the 70s to the 2000s. Everyone was dancing with him, vibing, and having a good time as he sang, danced, and played the saxophone. Very rarely does a performer capture the audience’s full attention like he did. Alex came over to our table to say hi to us and he was very pleasant.
I met up with Alex in January 2022 for coffee and he shared his story about growing up in Sweden as a Black man, his love for music, his career and his outlook on life. Alex is the first guest on the podcast and I am so happy that we crossed paths in Barcelona.
